Avalue Introduces a New 2^nd Generation PPC Series Multifunctional Touch Panel PC

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, January 3rd, 2013 – Avalue Technology Inc. (TAIEX: 3479-TW), a Global Embedded Solution provider and an Associate member of the Intel® Intelligent System Alliance is unveiling a new 2^nd generation PPC series panel pc. The PPC series is an ideal solution for interactive client solutions, self-service and POS/KIOSK applications. Avalue is currently releasing 15” and 17” series and a 21.5” series will be available soon.

The 15” series, PPC-1525 and PPC-1527 are equipped with 15-inch 4:3 XGA (1024x768) TFT Resistive Touchscreen Display. The 17” models, PPC-1725 and PPC-1727 are equipped with a 17” 4:3 SXGA (1280x1024) TFT Resistive Touchscreen Display. Within these platforms Avalue is utilizing two different Intel® Atom™ Processor Platforms to help give our customers different options.

PPC-1x27 are powered by the latest Intel® Atom™ D2550 processor and Intel® NM10 Express Chipset, which features low power consumption accompanied by good graphics performance. It supports one 204-pin SODIMM system memory with capacity up to 4GB.

The PPC-1x25 are powered by Intel® Atom™ D525 dual-core processor and Intel® ICH8-M express chipset, which features low power consumption with the capability to support 64-bit Operating Systems. It features one 204-pin SODIMM system memory for an easy upgrade to 4GB.

Storage & expansion options on all models include 1 x Compact Flash slot, 1 x 2.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD, and 2 x mini-PCIe sockets. Wi-Fi, Camera with microphone and RFID modules are all available as optional features. In terms of the I/O, includes 2 x COM Ports, 2 x USB 2.0 Ports, 1 x Gigabit Ethernet, 1 x VGA, 1 x Line-out, 2 x 2W speaker and 1 x PS/2 keyboard and mouse. The design is flexible so that one COM Port can be removed to support an additional 2 USB Ports, become 2 USB + 2 COM or 4 USB +1 COM.

Compared with our First Generation of the PPC series, we feel the 2^nd Generation is more stylish. The new PPC series features a front panel which meets IP-65 water-dust proof. While the top chassis meets IP-X1 water drop protected to avoid liquid penetration. A customized internal cooling system utilizes a heatpipe to replace the heatsink, which allows us to utilize higher performance platforms. The membrane switch replaces traditional mechanical buttons which help to reduce mechanical failures while offering low power consumption and fast responsbility characteristics. The new Camera with microphone and RFID will allow our users to find more applications which can utilize the system. The rear side also features a service window which can help to allow easy access to the HDD.
